Since joining the Clínica San Vicente in 2004, I have seen a two-fold growth in employees, I have seen it invest heavily in the latest technologies, the diversification of its services, obtaining research awards, rehabilitation coordination with the Community of Madrid, restructuring of its workforce, and the creation of specific Master’s programmes. As the gurus say, a company with a Mission, Vision and Values .
In times of political, social and economic uncertainty, the Clínica San Vicente is a solid Clinic, with a background, growth potential and a future. Why? I wondered what “success” a medium-long stay clinic that is dedicated primarily to disabling diseases such as Brain Injury would have?
The answer lies in the fact that the philosophy, culture, strategy and management style has been one of incorporating and placing emphasis on our staff so that we are not only technically prepared to perform the daily tasks of the company, but rather at the same time we remain adaptable, decisive and empathetic to the patient.
The ability of employees to use their own skills has been valued, above all their emotional intelligence. In this sense, the directors themselves and management have also enhanced their emotional and social skills to empathize with the rest of the team and to transmit messages and basic information so that the operation of the Clinic is efficient and effective.
This goes far beyond the corporate governance, vocational careers and its own code of ethics. We involve our staff in the very soul of our services to patients. We no longer place such emphasis on the awards of excellence or the demonstration of the success of our treatments and procedures that we have accumulated and achieved. We will continue spreading, evolving, empathizing, feeling and transmitting these values to future professionals who train and work at the Clínica San Vicente.
